Our Arts and crafts library…
To honor the donation we received from the fabulous Burton Family and to continue the legacy that is Florrie Burton, their mother… we are creating Florries lending Library. So many of her lace making books came to us as part of her estate so these will naturally become part of our library… The book lending service will be open to all members of the workshop and a proportion of those funds raised by the membership will go towards buying new books also. The children that attend classes here at the studio will be able to borrow books and patterns for their continued learning without paying a membership…
Florrie was a teacher and a life long crafter, mastering embroidery and her lace making was exceptional. Her trade was wig making, she made wigs for the Royal family between 30’s and 40’s and this career led to her teaching. We honor her life and kind donation by continuing the legacy that is the education of children in arts with The Florrie Burton Library.
